Housing benefit suspension successfully challenged
A single mother fell into arrears of £20,000 due to the erroneous suspension of her housing benefit. Lawstop successfully challenged the suspension, resulting in an award of over £19,000 in backdated housing benefit. It is suspected that the suspension was due to an algorithm which has been criticised as having a low accuracy rate, leading to many applicants being denied housing benefit despite their entitlement to it.
